Kids and Coding - IT'S HAPPENING:)!!!

  Casey, our technology coordinator, has been meeting with kiddos and doing Hour of Code.  Students in grades 3-6 have been given the opportunity to go online and learn a little bit about coding.  THEY  ARE  LOVING  IT!!!  Check out WHY they are doing this.....

NOW, check out WHAT they are doing while in there.....
Their "task" is to move either an Angry Bird, or Elsa from Frozen, along certain pathways.  As they continue through and are successful, the coding becomes more difficult.  It is SO fun to watch the excitement in their faces as they actually MAKE the code correctly.  Not only that, it's neat to hear them talk about what "coding" means, and even a few have said they would LOVE to do this when they are older - LOVIN' THAT!!

I am SO SO sorry about getting NOTHING up from TIES - I have been SO overwhelmed with stuff that haven't even had a CHANCE to look at notes - maybe today;)!!

I LIED!!! I TAKE THE THANK YOU TO APPLE BACK:(!!! UGH!!!

  All went well yesterday after we had done the Apple Configurator update - here were a few that we had to put into recovery mode, etc... which wasn't GREAT- but worked alright.  Students had to put in email address again as well as Schoology, no big deal.  Some lost their camera roll pictures - not the TOTAL end of the world.  But TODAY - 5 kids have LOST EVERYTHING!!! UGH!!  I don't do ANYTHING different with these iPads that I don't do with the others that have worked fine - so WHY?????????????  A senior girl and a freshman boy lost EVERYTHING!  It COMPLETELY WIPED their iPads and reinstalled ALL again - WHY???????????  I want to call Apple but I am TOO MAD to call as I wouldn't be anything tactful at all - so I sit and ponder what it might be - maybe I should use another word than Ponder, I guess they're throwing him back in next week, huh??:):)  I just don't know what to do.  AND the part that gets me the MOST is Apple KNOWS that sc...

More on Cyberbullying

Here's some more information regarding Cyberbullying to check out.  It's QUITE scary to think about all that children have to deal with nowadays!  The instant EVERYTHING - UGH!!  BUT, we as teachers, role models and parents can help and try to stay proactive.  Here is another link by Wiz Case to check out: A Comprehensive Cyberbullying Guide for Parents The more informed we are - the BETTER off we are as a whole.  This is such a tough and unfortunately never ending topic - good luck with this and PLEASE PLEASE share anything you have, anything you know, and keep your eyes out for all kiddos:)!!
